CrossVcl is a set of tools for Delphi developers that can create VCL applications for macOS and Linux with Embarcadero Delphi. Is CrossVcl a VCL emulator? CrossVcl is not an emulator, it is a WinAPI implementation for another platform. Cross Vcl covers only the WinAPI UI (except DirectX) required by VCL. For non-UI software, you must use the Cross-Platform protocol of RTL and other frames. The whole new Embarcadero Delphi compiler is based on LLVM technology and is called the next generation compiler. The Nextgen compiler supports AnsiString, ShortString, asseembler code, and supports ARC modeling for all objects.
Features and capabilities of CrossVCL:
Win API bridge: Provides low Windows API level for macOS and Linux
Native native control: Provides native macOS equivalents for most standard controls such as TEdit, TMemo, TComboBox
Native graphics: TCanvas and TBitmap controls work on macOS and Linux like Windows.
Custom controls: Many custom controls work unchanged on MacOS and Linux, such as Windows.
required system
CrossVcl requires Embarcadero Delphi 10.2 with macOS development add-on. Enterprise version requires for Linux development
