Description
A fundamental component of communication is the ability to express wants and needs. We do this through making demands and requests of others, also known as mand. Mands are one of the first verbal operant acquired by a child. This course will equip its students with the basics of why it is important to teach our children to mand.Basic Understanding of mand and its various types.The students will learn the procedure to teach their learners for the following types of mands- · Mand for item· Mand for action· Mand for mission item· Mand for attention· Mand for information· Mand for permission· Mand to remove aversive stimulus· Mand using adjectives and adverbsUnderstanding the importance of motivating operations (MO) when contriving situations for learners to request or demand for items, objects or people.Learning about the different types of Motivating operations (MO).Teaching functional communication to kids on the spectrum which will further help in reducing problem behaviours.The students will learn the procedure to teach their learners to mand (request) in a more socially appropriate manner.Creating foundation for language development in children with autism by developing a mand repertoire.Learning to contrive situations for children to communicate their needs and wants.
